The Harlem School of Jujutsu and self defense teaches the traditional Japanese art of Jujutsu. The school curriculum is based on internationally accepted guidelines and includes standard technique areas; Nage Waza (Throwing), Ukemi Waza (Falling), Atemi Waza (Striking), Gatame Waza (Ground Holds), Kansetsu Waza (Bone locking), Ne Waza (Grappling) and Shimi Waza (Choke/Strangle)
At the Harlem School of Jujutsu and self defense, learning Jujutsu is not merely focused on victory or defeat of an opponent in combat, but the practical application of skills acquired in the dojo to everyday life. Through the practice of Jujutsu, it is hoped that the student will come in contact with the spirit of Budo (warrior) and be a critical judge of him or herself. The school welcomes students who are committed to training diligently and with all seriousness, in order to acquire the physical, mental and spiritual strength to overcome any obstacles in life. | |
